Farm Business Skillnet is the training division of IFA, providing training and upskilling to groups of IFA members.

This Course when successfully completed will allow the trained hunter to certify game carcasses fit to enter Approved Game Handling Establishments as required by Regulation (EC) 853/2004.

This course is run throughout the year.  It is organised by the NARGC ; a LANTRA accredited body and is funded with the support of Farm Business Skillnet. The Course is also approved by The Food Safety Authority of Ireland.

The cost of the course will be €130 for IFA Countryside members.  This includes a manual which will be posted to you, Tea/Coffee and dinner.

Approved deer hunter training courses are run throughout the year facilitated by and in partnership with Deer Alliance HCAP.

IFA Countryside offers its members another opportunity to avail of subsidised participation in approved deer stalking training and certification, in partnership with and facilitated by Deer Alliance HCAP and subsidised by IFA Farm Business Skillnet for IFA Countryside members. Training and certification will be mandatory for first-time applicants for a Deer Hunting Licence and Deer Alliance HCAP is an IFA Countryside preferred provider of training. Members can avail of discounted cost of only €120.00, to include Training Workshop, Stalker Training Manual, MCQ & Range Test.

The first step in becoming a gun owner is to complete a gun handling competency course.

In order to apply for a firearms licence, it is necessary to complete the Firearms Competency Course and include the certificate with your application for An Garda Síochána.

Firearm Competency Courses at held at Courtlough Shooting Grounds every second Saturday (alternating Rife/Pistol) from 10am. The course lasts lasts 1-2 hours.

This course will provide you with best practice technique for handing a gun safely and professionally. It covers all aspects of the correct use, carriage and storage of firearms.

Tips are also provided on shooting techniques and the cleaning & maintenance of your new firearm and a certificate is provided upon completion.
