Advocating for Our Members & Countryside Pursuits
At IFA and IFA Countryside, we understand the inherent connection between our organisations and the rural fabric of Ireland. With deep roots in the countryside, we have an intimate understanding of the unique challenges faced by our members and their specific needs. That’s why effective representation lies at the heart of our mission.
As Ireland’s largest farming organisation, IFA possesses extensive expertise in lobbying and advocating for the interests of our members. We staunchly oppose any changes that could adversely affect the rural way of life and countryside pursuits. Specifically, within the shooting community, we recognise the myriad of challenges that need our attention.
Changes to firearm legislation, restrictions on lead ammunition, the threat of avian influenza all pose significant challenges to responsible and regulated hunting. We believe it is essential to communicate the importance of hunting and shooting to the wider public, shedding light on its role as an indispensable tool for effective land and wildlife management. Gun and game clubs play a crucial role in this endeavour, extending their impact far beyond their core pursuits. Through their conservation efforts, fundraising initiatives, and community engagement, they have the power to make a significant and positive difference in the rural landscape.
By actively engaging with policymakers, government bodies, and other relevant stakeholders, we work to protect the traditions and practices associated with countryside pursuits. Our aim is to ensure that the interests of our members are well-represented and their voices are heard.
Furthermore, we recognise that the shooting community has a vital role to play in conserving and enhancing the natural environment. Through their active involvement in habitat preservation, wildlife management, and sustainable practices, gun and game clubs contribute to the overall well-being of our countryside.
As part of IFA Countryside, you can rest assured that our organisation is committed to robust representation and advocacy. We will continue to work diligently to address the challenges faced by our members, promote the value of hunting and shooting, and foster a deeper understanding among the wider public.
Together, through effective representation and united efforts, we can ensure the preservation of our rural heritage and the protection of countryside pursuits.
