IFA Countryside has announced the winner of its 2025 Nature Through the Lens photography competition, following a strong field of entries and a period of public voting. The competition, aimed at celebrating Ireland’s natural environment, attracted a wide variety of submissions from across the country.
The winning image features a cock pheasant photographed in woodland near Borris, Co. Carlow. The photographer captured the shot from a car window, noting how the bird’s vibrant plumage contrasted with the soft greens of the woodland background. Judges commended the image for its composition, striking colour and ability to capture a moment of stillness in nature.
The competition drew significant engagement from IFA Countryside members and the wider public, with the shortlist gaining substantial voting activity across social media platforms. Public feedback contributed to the final decision.
IFA Countryside extends its thanks to all participants and looks forward to continuing to highlight Ireland’s diverse natural heritage through future competitions.
